Window Samplers

Window samplers are designed for taking disturbed soil samples from depths up to 10 metres. They are generally used for environmental investigation of contaminated land.

The samplers are driven with a Hydraulic Breaker Hammer or pupose-designed Soil Sampling Rig.

Window samplers are manufactured from high tensile cold-drawn seamless steel tubes complete with a heat-treated replaceable Cutting Shoe.

After driving the sample tube into the ground, a soil sample is removed from one of the windows for analysis.

The sample tubes are available in a nested series of diameters, the smaller ones being used at greater depths.

Connection at the top end of the sampler is 1.1/2" B.S. Whitworth female. We recommend our standard 1-metre long SPT Rods for driving the samplers as these are extremely rugged and resistant to breakage. However, adaptors can be supplied to connect our window samplers to other types of drive rod if required.

Hexagon Drive-in Tools can be supplied that fit most standard breaker hammers with connection at the lower end to the drive rods.

A Hydraulic Jack is also available for extracting the samplers from the ground.
