A purpose-made Drive Rod is available for driving the SPT Split Tube Sampler.
The rod is manufactured from a thin-wall, but high tensile-strength, tubular section of 54 mm O.D. with solid 1.1/2" B.S. Whitworth male and female tool joints on each end. The tool joints are provided with spanner flats to facilitate handling.
The rod weighs only 8.8 kg per metre but is both stronger and stiffer than the BW rod, which may be used as an alternative.
SPT rods are available in standard lengths of 3.0, 1.5, 1.0 and 0.75 m.
The SPT Rod Bitch is used for handling the rods and SPT Rod Swivel for hoisting the rods.
