Sinker Bars

Sinker Bars are used to add weight to and thus increase the penetration of cable percussion tools.

Our standard sinker bars are4 1/2" (114.3 mm) diameter with an effective length of 40" (approx. 1 metre) and weigh approximately 80 kg.

The Swivel Sinker Bar has a strong lifting bail at the top end, secured to the bar by means of a tapered nut and pin. The lifting bail can swivel about the body of the sinker bar.

The Intermediate Sinker Bar has 2 1/4" x 3 1/4" API connections at both ends. All sinker bars are provided with two cross holes. As an option a longitudinal slot can be machined into the bars, used for "surging" casing in conjunction with a Surging Bar.

A Short API Swivel is available for starting the borehole or for lowering and raising tools in low headroom situations.
