Stabilizers

Rotary drill bits are designed so optimum performance is achieved by keeping the bit rotating on its own center. Stabilizers, with their guiding elements very near the wall of the borehole assure that the bit will do this and thus cause the forces exerted on it to be efficiently utilized in an axial direction. Bit life is therefore increased and penetration rate improved. Gauge wear on the bit is also more uniform and less severe.

All stabilizers supplied by Archway are fabricated-type. The body section is made from heavy wall steel tube, and tool joints from heat-treated alloy steel. The blades are welded to the body section to give the specified outside diameter and may be either straight or spiral in form. The outside edges of the blades are furnished with tungsten carbide mesh type hard-facing.

Stabilizers are manufactured to customer requirements. When enquiring please specify hole size, blade style (spiral or straight), drill pipe O.D., thread connections required at top and bottom, and wrenching requirements if applicable.
