Geotechnical Drilling

We supply several types of core bits specifically designed for high performance in geotechnical applications. These may incorporate both natural microcystalline diamond, or synthetic polycrystalline diamond cutters (PDC) in various shapes and sizes. Please refer to Core Bit Selector and Core Bit Data Tables for full range of sizes and potential applications.

Description

We supply several types of core bits specifically designed for high performance in geotechnical applications. These may incorporate both natural microcystalline diamond, or synthetic polycrystalline diamond cutters (PDC) in various shapes and sizes. Please refer to Core Bit Selector and Core Bit Data Tables for full range of sizes and potential applications.

Sawtooth Carbonado Core Bits
The Geotechnical Sawtooth design has shaped teeth formed from a tungsten carbide matrix, reinforced with natural carbonado diamonds on the cutting edges. These bits have face discharge ports designed to produce maximum cooling when drilling with air flush. However, they may be used also with water, foam or mud flush. These bits function in much the same way as T.C. insert bits but with a much superior wear resistance. Formation range: soft to medium hard, groups 1-4, clay to siltstone.

PDC Core Bits
Much the same profile as the Sawtooth design, but enhanced with Polycrystalline Diamond Cutters giving a long working life, fast penetration and good core recovery in soft to hard formations, groups 1-5, clay to hard limestones. The bit may be used with air, water, mud or foam flushing media. Flat or domed PDC types are available.

Geocube Core Bits
A revolutionary design using thermally-stable cube-shaped cutters mounted in the bit matrix and producing a V-shaped cutting profile. The bits in face discharge or internal discharge designs are suitable for water, mud or air flushing. the bit is extremely tough and will cope with massive or broken formations from soft to hard, high abrasive groups 2-6.
